The cost jump from £40 to £78 was initially off-putting (to say the least). Was it underpriced the previous year? A response to the national increase in costs that Peak Park is now having to contend with? Or was it under-priced the previous year? Whatever the reason for the incredibly high price increase, given the amount of time we spend in the Peak, it will still work out as cost effective to have the permit…and we are now likely to be able to find a parking space, because I suspect lots of others may not feel able or willing to pay the new price, and will therefore park in non designated areas. A sad sign of the (current) times, but understandable.
I understand the financial crisis facing PDNP, and a parking permit might also encourage more people to visit by sustainable transport, but it is now very expensive and risks limiting access to only well-off people. Could there not at least be some concessions, e.g. for students and pensioners?
What a better way to enjoy the Peak District by using the many handy car parks and using a weekly parking permit. It’s so easy. No need for loose change in your pocket
At a time where our National Parks receive a tiny portion of the financial support they need from government, this is entirely reasonable at £78. It's as reasonable as. a National Trust, Forestry England,Wildlife Trust or RSPB membership and PDNP needs all they can get at the moment.
The first permit was lost in the post. Within 20 minutes of emailing the Park Authority, Siân in Customer Services had sorted it and, once my address was confirmed, sent another one. A very rapid response. I have the annual permit not so much for the cost saving, although that’s a bonus, but more for never having to worry about getting back to a car park before the ticket expires.
Excellent service. Received my new pass the next day after ordering. So beneficial to have access to parking without having to worry how the machine will work as I am not good with tech!!!

Reducing our plastic and waste
As the UK's original National Park and an area of natural beauty, we know only too well the impact that plastic and waste is having on our environment – to the bustling wildlife, but also the communities who call this place home.
That is why our aim is simple: to reduce our plastic and waste. We aim to achieve this by working with suppliers that share our ethos whilst not compromising on quality.
We want you to join us in doing our part for the environment.
